I finished updating my Home Management Binder for the year 2009!! Click here to read an Indonesian version of this post!

This is the cover page of my Home Management Binder:

These are the contents of my current Home Management Binder
My Philosophy section (Filosofiku)

  • Time Management Section (Manajemen Waktu)
  • Money Management Section (Manajemen Kas)
  • Food Management Section (Manajemen Makanan)
  • House & Home Management section (Manajemen Rumah)
  • Clothing management section (Manajemen Pakaian)
  • Self Development Section (Pengembangan Diri)
  • I decided to write down the whole sections in one post..

    My Philosophy Section (Filosofiku)

    This is a place for the rules and principles of our family, my philosophy to manage our ‘home sweet home’.

    I use the verse Titus 2:4b-5 for this section:

    …women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

    To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

    I also use this quote for this section:

    Home is the true wife's kingdom. There, first of all places, she must be strong and beautiful."

    ~ J.R. Miller, Secrets of Happy Home Life*

    Note: *) This quote is taken from my favorite James Russel Miller’s sermon. You can read a complete copy of the sermon here.

    Here are pages of “My Philosophy” section:

    Time Management Section (Manajemen Waktu)

    I use the verse Ecc 3:1 for this section:

    To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.

    (King James Version)

    I use this quote to inspire me throughout my time managing tasks:

    "Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein."-- H. Jackson Brown

    Page 4: Basic weekly plan

    Page 5: yearly calendar 2009 (from donnayoung’s site)

    Page 6: our yearly verse for 2009

    Next part of my time management section is the January-December divider.

    I break our time planning into monthly basis. Inside each month’s section I give pages for our monthly goals, monthly cash flow synchronization, our prayer list and thanksgiving list.

    Money Management Section (Manajemen Kas)

    This is the verse that my DH use in our financial management:

    Mathew 6:19-21 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

    These are the quotes that I use:

    Money will buy a bed but not sleep;

    books but not brains;

    food but not appetite;

    finery but not beauty;

    a house but not a home;

    medicine but not health;

    luxuries but but not culture;

    amusements but not happiness;

    religion but not salvation;

    a passport to everywhere but heaven.

    Money can’t buy real friendship-friendship must be earned.

    Money can’t buy a clear conscience-square dealing is the price tag

    Money can’t buy the glow of good health-right living is the secret

    Money can’t buy happiness-happiness is a mental condition and one may be as happy in a cottage as in a mansion

    Money can’t buy sunsets, songs of wild birds and the music of the wind in the trees-these are as free as the air we breathe

    Money can’t buy inward peace-peace is the result of a constructive philosophy in life

    Money can’t buy a good character-good character is achieved through decent habits of private living and wholesome dealings in our open contacts with our fellow men

    Food Management Section (Manajemen Makanan)

    The Bible verse that guides me in food management:

    1Co 6:19-20 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

    For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. (King James Version)

    I use these quotes for this section:

    Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper” Adelle Davis (1904-1974)

    Thou shouldst eat to live; not live to eat.

    Greek philosopher in Athens (469 BC - 399 BC)

    One should eat to live, not live to eat

    Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

    Principles regarding food: this is taken from my summary of reading “Rahasia Umur panjang”(The Secret of Living Long) by Dr.Elizabeth Subrata

    1. Makanlah hanya zat-zat yang Allah ciptakan sebagai makanan.

    Eat only those substances that God created as food

    1. Makanlah makanan sebagaimana makanan itu diciptakan, sebelum diolah/dikembangkan oleh manusia.

    Eat food as it is created, before any process takes place

    1. Hindarilah kecanduan makanan. Jangan biarkan satupun makanan ataupun minuman menjadi Allahmu.

    Avoid food addiction. Don’t let any food or beverage be your god.

    Part of this section that I update continually is the menu planning schedules and grocery list that will afterwards be added to our master grocery list (page 8-9).

    I also noted down our favorite recipes in a special notebook. I don’t write all favorite recipes in this section, otherwise it’ll be an extra thick section! But the recipe index of our recipe notebook is summarized in page 15 (meals that my family enjoy).

    House & Home Management section (Manajemen Rumah)

    I use this verse as a key verse to this section:

    Proverbs 24 verse 3-4 “Through wisdom is a house built; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”(King James Version)

    I use these quotes for this section:

    A house is a home when it shelters the body and comforts the soul”(Philip Moffitt)

    The House a woman creates is a Utopia. She can’t help it—can’t help trying to interest her nearest and dearest not in happiness itself but in search for it.” (Marguerite Duras)

    Key verses to this section are:

    1Timothy 2:9 “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety: not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array” (King James version)

    Matthew 6: 29-30 “And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you, o ye of little faith?” (King James version)
